History of the Mall
Crabtree Valley Mall opened its doors in 1972 in the same location it is today on Glenwood Avenue, just off the I-440 Inner Beltline in Raleigh, NC.
The original store anchors of Crabtree Mall were Hudson Belk (now Belk), Sears, Miller & Rhoads, and Thalhimer's. Other shops, dining establishments and service providers included G.C. Murphy, Treasury Drug and Piccadilly Cafeteria. Originally built as a 251,000-square-foot shopping mall, today, Crabtree Valley Mall is home to more than 1,300,000 square feet of retail space.
Since opening more than 40 years ago, Crabtree Valley Mall has been a favorite of shoppers across Central and Eastern North Carolina. We welcome individuals and families from Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Morrisville, Durham, Chapel Hill and all surrounding areas in the Triangle, North Carolina, and beyond. As one of the largest malls in the Southeast, we've seen visitors from every corner of the country.
This is an upscale mall, still a favorite for eye candy. Although not a newer mall, they have maintained the panache. It's a particularly wonderful place to shop for Christmas. There are a wide variety of shops, with major anchor stores. The restuarants are some of the city's finest. Parking and traffic are a bit much during heavy peak shopping times. I recommend going at off peak times, at least until you are familiar with the traffic patterns for entering the area. Crabtree is the place to go for better gifts. You may not save money, but you will find pleasing items.
Wow most of the make have run down hill. This place was awesome they have a huge selection of shops to choose from. Also the food court was nice with a good selection to choose from. From now on I will be going back here for all my shipping needs. Christmas time this place was packed bite I see why. Great place and I actually felt safe here
Had a great time at the mall. Always a good experience when I come so far. The mall is always clean, no problem walking to stores. Each store visited had no issues. The sales were all good. I visited the bathrooms and it was clean, no smells, no issues with the facilities and no spills. The food I ate was fresh as usual and tasted great. As malls go, this was a great experience.
It's become average at best many stores are lacking! And the food court needs better options... But the activities the mall has are interesting! Workers are kind and helpful in most stores! But the restaurants outside of the mall like the Cheesecake Factory is good!
